Educational Opportunities for Veterans Passes Senate

Today, Rep. Jeff Miller, Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, and Rep. Gus Bilirakis, Vice Chairman of the Committee, issued the following statement on the Senate passage of the Senate amendment to H.R. 4057, as amended:

“This bipartisan legislation will provide much needed tools for student veterans to make better informed decisions on how to use their educational benefits, such as the Post-9/11 GI Bill,” stated Miller. “By empowering veterans with more information for post-secondary educational options, their hard-earned benefit will go further to put them on a path to meaningful employment in the civilian sector.”

“As our nation’s heroes make the transition from the battlefield to civilian life, we must do everything we can to arm veterans with the information they need to make informed decisions about their educational benefits, and ultimately, ensure they remain competitive in today’s job market,” stated Bilirakis. “I would like to thank my colleagues in the Senate, especially Senators Richard Burr and Patty Murray, for their support of H.R. 4057—an important step to ensuring our veterans continue to remain a top priority in this country.”
