Today, Rep. Mike Bost (R-Ill.), the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Tex.) and Rep. Elaine Luria (D-Va.), the Ranking Member and Chair of the Subcommittee on Disability Assistance & Memorial Affairs, and Rep. Jack Bergman (R-Mich.), the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Health, released the following statements after they introduced H.R. 6064 last week, a bill to improve the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) disability exam process for veterans who have experienced military sexual trauma by requiring VA to partner with the National Academies to complete a comprehensive review of the M.S.T. disability exam process. “VA estimates that approximately 1 in 3 veteran women and 1 in 50 veteran men have experienced military sexual trauma.
