Ranking Member Roe Companion Legislation to Safeguard Student Veterans Benefits Passes Senate

Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.), the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, released the following statement after the Senate passed S. 3503, companion legislation to his bill, H.R. 6194 which would safeguard GI Bill benefits for student veterans during the coronavirus crisis:

“In a time of so much fear and uncertainty, we must act quickly to assure student veterans and others who rely on the GI Bill to make ends meet that they won’t suffer because of actions their school takes to flatten the curve and stop the spread of the coronavirus. I applaud my friends, Chairman Jerry Moran and Ranking Member Jon Tester of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, for passing the Senate version of my bill yesterday to do just that. I urge Speaker Pelosi and my colleagues in the House to act with similar urgency and pass this bill as soon as possible. Hundreds of thousands of veterans, dependents, and spouses are counting on us.”
