Bost Congratulates McDonough on Becoming VA Secretary

Today, Rep. Mike Bost (R-Ill.), the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, released the following statement after the Senate voted 87-07 to confirm Denis McDonough as the 11th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

“I congratulate Mr. McDonough on being confirmed as the next VA Secretary. Our politics are different, but we are both dedicated to serving veterans. Our predecessors made a tremendous effort to transform VA from a poor-performing bureaucracy into one that puts veterans first. Their work paid off in the lowest veteran unemployment rate in decades, historically high veteran satisfaction rates, a significant reduction in the disability appeals backlog, and more. Now is not the time to take our eyes off the ball but to roll up our sleeves and get right back at it. We owe it to the millions of veterans, families, caregivers, and survivors who are counting on us. I am eager to sit down with him and get to work.”
