Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.), the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, released the following statement after the House passed three veterans’ bills:

“I am proud to support the passage of these bills today to authorize a cost-of-living increase for veterans who receive VA disability benefits, approve the construction of seven VA major medical facilities, and correct an error in existing law that impedes senior leaders in the VA healthcare system from receiving their full salaries. Passage of these bills today is a step in the right direction. But, there is much more work to do for veterans and their families, especially those who are struggling during this pandemic, ” said Roe. “One particular bill that I urge Chairman Takano to bring to the House floor as soon as possible is H.R. 3504, the Ryan Kules and Paul Benne Specially Adaptive Housing Improvement Act of 2019. This bill, which has already passed the Senate, would make important improvements to programs that serve some of our most severely injured veterans. They shouldn’t have to wait one day more for Congress’ support.”

The following bills were passed by the House:

- H.R. 6168: The Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2020
- S. 3414: The Major Medical Facility Authorization Act of 2020
- S. 3084: To modify the limitation on pay for certain high-level employees and officers of VA
