Ranking Member Roe: "I encourage all Americans to reflect on the many sacrifices made by the brave men and women who have served over the course of our nation’s history"

Washington, November 11, 2019 | Samantha Gonzalez (202-225-3527)

In honor of Veterans Day, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Ranking Member, Dr. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement:

"On this Veterans Day, I am thinking about the millions of veterans who have worn the cloth of our great nation. From the harbors in Boston, to the beaches of Normandy, from the jungles of Vietnam, to the deserts of Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, and beyond – throughout America's history, veterans have answered the call to serve and stand in defense of all we hold dear. To each one of them still with us today, thank you for your service. To those that did not make it back home, our brothers and sisters in arms, we continue to honor your sacrifice by safeguarding the precious freedoms you gave your life in defense of. Freedom has never been free. I encourage all Americans to reflect on the many sacrifices made by the brave men and women who have served over the course of our nation’s history— those sacrifices have allowed us to live freely each and every day. May God bless all our veterans and their families."

Ranking Member Roe also penned an essay in The Ripon Forum ahead of Veterans Day, which can be read here
