Ranking Member Roe Announces Republican Subcommittee Assignments

Washington, D.C. - Today, Ranking Member Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) announced his subcommittee member assignments and his intention to appoint Rep. Amata Coleman Radewagen (R-American Samoa) as Vice Ranking Member, which will be approved at the first full committee organizational meeting.

"It is exciting to have our subcommittees populated and I look forward to these positions being confirmed during our first full committee meeting," said Roe. "I can already tell that these members will work well together and strive to ensure our veterans receive the best care and support possible."

“Over the last several years we have made great strides in enhancing the benefits and care that our heroes receive when they exit the military," said Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity, Rep. Gus M. Bilirakis (R-Fla.). "However, there is more work to be done, especially when it comes to improving the transition process.  We want to ensure that Veterans are poised to leverage their high quality training, real world experience and leadership skills when they enter the civilian workforce. I look forward to working with this great group of my colleagues to build upon our recent accomplishments by removing the barriers to economic success that face Veterans as they seek to advance their careers and provide for their families. Additionally,  I am eager to partner with Subcommittee Chairman Levin in a bipartisan manner to accomplish this moral imperative."

“I’m so pleased to work on behalf of our Veterans wherever they live, and in my Territory, where we have high rates of service in the Armed Forces,” said Rep. Radewagen.“I’m proud of this Committee’s commitment to honor our Veterans. Thank you so much to Ranking Member Roe for this opportunity, and more importantly, for his leadership and his dedication to Veterans.”

“I’m honored to have this opportunity to serve America’s heroes and can’t wait to get to work in this role," said Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs, Rep. Mike Bost (R-Ill.).

“I am honored to continue to serve America’s heroes in this leadership role on the Health Subcommittee," said Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Health, Rep. Dr. Neal Dunn (R-Fla.). "As a doctor and Army veteran, I have seen firsthand the red tape our veterans face on a daily basis. From problems getting treatment at local facilities to traveling hundreds or even thousands of miles to qualify and receive organ transplants – our servicemembers return from war only to find they have to fight government bureaucracy. These men and women gave their all for love of country. We must now give our all to ensure they are receiving the care they have earned. Thank you Ranking Member Roe for entrusting me with this leadership role and for your resolute commitment to our veterans.”

“I look forward to serving as Ranking Member along with new and returning members on the VA Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations," said Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, Rep. Jack Bergman (R-Mich.) "It’s imperative we continue our work to ensure accountability and transparency so our Veterans receive the timely, quality care they have earned, especially as the VA begins operating under its largest budget in history.”

“Modernizing the Department of Veterans Affairs and making the health records of our Nation’s heroes compatible with today’s technology is paramount if we are to provide the first rate care they have earned," said Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Technology Modernization, Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.). "When I helped form this subcommittee last Congress, I knew it was a daunting task – one that has been worked on for many years.  However, I was surprised by how well members of both parties rallied together to work on behalf of our veterans.  I am honored to serve as Ranking Member in the 116th Congress and look forward to accomplishing the priorities of the many that gave so much for our country.”
